Locum Tenens Medical Physicist Opportunity Near Junction, IA Profession: Medical Physicist Specialty: Oncology Are you a skilled Medical Physicist looking for a flexible and rewarding locum tenens opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Oncology team near Junction, IA. Position Details: Rate Type: Hourly Emergency/Temp Privileges: No Shift Type: Days Shift Description: Clinic hours between 8 am-5 pm Call coverage on weekends only Weekend Requirements: Yes On-Call Requirements: Yes Position Overview: We are looking for a locum Medical Physicist to join our Oncology team. The position is available starting mid-June on a part-time basis, with an ongoing need for part-time coverage. The call rotation is 1:2 unless it is for vacation coverage, in which case the locum would be the only physicist on call. The EMR system used is Cerner. Responsibilities: Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics to the Radiation Oncology Department Ensure equipment safety, quality patient care, and teaching in accordance with regulatory standards and medical community guidelines Participate in treatment procedures including SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D Conformal Utilize and manage 2 linear accelerators (TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam) Perform record and verify through Aria, with planning software including Eclipse and Tomoplan Conduct patient-specific QA, chart QA, linear accelerator QA, and plan checks Provide additional support to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists as needed Successful Candidate: The ideal candidate will have a MS or PhD, be board eligible with intent for certification or board certified by the ABR or ABMP, and must be or become registered in Iowa as a Radiation Therapy Physicist. Skills in calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators and other radiation sources, performing quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans, and implementing new technologies are essential. A strong work ethic and the ability to work well in a team environment are highly valued.
