Job Title: Senior Tax Manager or Director of Tax

Location: Sherman Oaks, CA (Hybrid 2-3 days a week onsite)

Pay: $135K to $175K + Bonus

Genesis Partners is working with a leading CPA firm in the heart of Los Angeles, dedicated to providing top-tier tax and accounting services to a diverse client base. Client specializes in delivering customized solutions that meet the unique financial needs of both individual and corporate clients.

Job Summary:

Client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager or Director of Tax to join their ever-growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing the preparation and review of complex tax returns, and providing strategic tax planning advice. This role requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services to clients.
  • Prepare and review federal and state income taxes for individuals, businesses, benefit funds, real estate, and exempt organizations.
  • Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate staff and seniors and assist in the professional development of the team.
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively.
  • Consult on tax planning, research complex tax issues, and provide proactive advice to minimize tax liability.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable authorities, while optimizing financial opportunities present in existing tax laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Master’s in taxation is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within tax (2 years at the Manager level and 2 years from public accounting)
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tax software and technology.
