A Snapshot of Your Day
In your role as Performance Engineer Turbo-compressors - Aero/Thermodynamics you will experience a varied working day. You will be responsible for the thermodynamic design of turbo compressors within the order processing department. In close exchange with experts from various specialist areas, such as rotor dynamics and control engineering, your work will remain exciting, as each machine is tailored to the customer. Your team works internationally, so a daily exchange is important to keep the quality high. In the afternoon, another meeting with colleagues from the development department is on the agenda. Creativity and initiative are required here. Together, you work on new machine concepts and help to further optimize existing flow-conducting components. It is important to be flexible because troubleshooting cannot be planned and requires the utmost care in processing and analyzing machine performance data.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Driving the energy turnaround with turbo compressor solutions contributing significantly to decarbonization.
  • Calculating and optimizing machine performance for gearboxes and single-shaft radial compressors.
  • Preparing technical documentation according to customer contracts and project requirements.
  • Handling technical project processing and direct customer exchanges.
  • Providing support during commissioning, troubleshooting, sales, and development.
  • Acting as an expert in performance evaluation and engaging in global coordinated teamwork.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. A master's degree in mechanical engineering with a specialization in Turbomachinery, Power Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field will be viewed favorably.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in turbomachinery, focusing on applied thermodynamics, performance calculation, and familiarity with turbo compressor standards and regulations. Those with more years of experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • Technical experience in testing and commissioning of turbomachinery.
  • Solid knowledge of prime movers, including gas turbines, steam turbines, and electric motors.
  • Expertise in technical quality assurance, cost, and risk awareness.
  • Excellent teamwork and global communication abilities are essential with strong MS-Office skills. Fluency in German is highly advantageous but not mandatory.

This role may be based in Olean, New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. The base salary range for this position in Olean, New York is $80,000 - $95,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of base salary.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
