GENERAL MANAGER for THE BOWERY ELECTRIC

The ideal candidate knows and loves downtown NYC culture, music, and nightlife, has been around to see and experience its continued evolution, and wants to be a part of the next chapter. YOU ARE You are or have been a bartender at some point in your life and can identify great bartenders and proper work habits and conduct behind the bar. A self-starter and NYC nightlife enthusiast with previous management experience in bars/music venues/nightlife or self-management as sole bartender at a bar (must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a bartender, if this is the case). You enjoy motivating and leading a FOH team. You’re a great communicator and are independent enough to know how to run a bar and FOH staff, taking appropriate steps to do so while still collaborating with the owners to execute their vision. Experience with inventory, ordering, and back-end of POS systems. Passion for hospitality and nightlife is a must. Must be comfortable with and into working late nights (we stay open until 4am on weekends, earlier during the week). PLEASE HAVE PREVIOUS BAR AND/OR MUSIC VENUE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction to a team of people. Manage operations and finances of the business. Recruit and train new hires on business practices. Drive development of the bar business. Ensure that quality of work or service is maintained. Qualifications Management and customer service experience, strong administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to lead. Comfort working with budgets, payroll, revenue, and forecasting. Strong communication skills. Minimum 5 years of nightlife experience, including bartending experience. In more Detail: Staff hiring, training, and evaluation. Floor management with a focus on customer experience and satisfaction. Experience in setting the correct atmosphere nightly (lighting, music, bar vibe). Ability to work late nights and long hours. Motivated to implement new ideas for continued revenue growth (i.e., new parties, drink specials, holiday decor, etc.). Motivated to hire/manage weekend DJs and book special events. Social media skills for IG and social accounts. Ability to take direction from owners and follow through on requested tasks. Staff scheduling. Implementing and maintaining operating procedures (bar cleanliness, storage organization, etc.). DOH food handler's certificate. Ability to learn POS backend menu building/alterations. Weekly payroll. Capable of composing accurate weekly and nightly reports.
