Job description
Are you a Parent who had an open Child Welfare Service case that was successfully closed? Have a valid California Driver’s License and Insurance? Would you like to now work with other parents currently in the child welfare system? Parent Partners provide mentorship that brings hope, realistic expectations, support, and guidance to parents working toward reunification. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide one-on-one and parent mentorship, support services, and other interventions for direct care to parents working with Child Welfare Services based on client needs identified by Child Welfare Services. Share personal experience and expertise in navigating systems and programs to support parents. Develop a supportive, nurturing relationship with parents. Actively participate in collaborative meetings (Family Engagement, Team Decision Meetings) to identify the needs of the family, strengths, and goals, and engage in the planning process. Provide advocacy for parents. Transport parents during appointments when necessary. Assist families in obtaining resources and assistance when needed. Maintain a flexible schedule according to client needs. Participate in Resource Family Trainings. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must be 21 years of age. Lived experience with a successfully closed Child Welfare Service case. Alcohol and other drug-free with a minimum of two years in recovery. Valid California State Driver’s License including vehicle and appropriate insurance. Significant progress in personal acceptance, responsibility, and healing pertaining to one’s recovery and involvement with child welfare. Thorough knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation and recovery. Knowledge of mental illnesses and chemical dependency, and effective strategies for dealing with its effects. Knowledge of community resources. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to collaborate, provide peer support, and help facilitate services for families receiving high intensity services. Ability to partner with consumers, mental health professionals, and the community. Must be able to maintain professional boundaries. Ability to help parents voice their own perspective and represent a parent’s orientation and perspective in all internal and external agency activities. Demonstrated skills needed to build confidence with parents so they can be successful after services are completed, and to provide parent guidance/education as needed and as assigned. Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment. Desire to promote needed system changes that affect at-risk parents and children. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to work as part of a team. General computer proficiency, including the ability to utilize electronic medical record systems. Other duties deemed necessary. Job Type:
