We are seeking a highly talented, big thinker to play a key role on our Alexa Finance team, supporting a new monetization initiative. Over the past decade Amazon has developed a number of market-leading, innovative, and fast-growing digital businesses including Kindle, Kindle Fire Tablets, Fire TV and Echo. This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial minded candidate who wants to join one of the most innovative businesses at Amazon and one of the fastest growing segments within Alexa.
A successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, highly analytical, creative, demonstrates an ability to influence business owners, and supports decision making in rapidly evolving environments. The role requires a self-starter with the ability to be strategic, analytical, and have a demonstrated ability to effectively manage the financial responsibilities of a complex business. It requires strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies (including statistical concepts) while dealing with big data. This role also has regular interaction with executives and various business units across Amazon and therefore requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
Leading the financial planning and forecasting process for a new Alexa product worldwide Building and presenting KPI dashboards with financial and business insights each month and quarter Owning finance communication with the business teams on product performance, long term planning, risks, and opportunities. Driving automation and scale of financial reporting in order to simplify process for internal stakeholders (e.g., finance peers and monetization partners) Lead deep dives into key cost drivers for month end reviews, forecasts, and annual operating plans Building financial models for new business concepts BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience - Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience - 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience - MBA, or CPA - Knowledge of SQL/ETL - Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards) - Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
