Job Description: Under the supervision of the Chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department, the CWP Department Coordinator manages the daily operations of the department, ensuring efficient office systems that serve students, faculty, and staff. The Department Coordinator supports regular office functions as needed by the department and assists the chair with general department operations. Essential duties and responsibilities: Daily operations

: Provide administrative support for daily operations, departmental communications, calendar management, and record maintenance.

Assist with general inquiries about the department and its programs via in-person, phone, and email interactions.

Academic programs support

: Facilitate administrative processes that support the students in the department’s programs, including: Updating advising materials, course sequence plans, course syllabi, and technology bundle information;

Processing department’s major and minor declarations, study abroad applications, chair-approved waivers, course substitutions, proficiencies, and graduation portfolio completions;

Collecting student submissions for special processes such as credit-by-exam and departmental awards;

Arranging Core support

: Provide administrative support for all Berklee students in their Arranging Core, including: Supporting the entering student placement assessment process and providing section scheduling adjustments for Arranging students;

Maintaining and updating departmental exams, self-assessments, and practice materials for Arranging courses.

Departmental records

: Assist the chair by keeping departmental records, taking minutes at meetings, and organizing information and data to facilitate the creation of departmental reports.

Communications

: Update the department website, manage the department newsletter, and oversee the department’s social media accounts.

Extracurricular events

: Coordinate logistical details for visiting artists and other departmental events, including scheduling, making room reservations, presentation technology needs, and catering. Provides day-of support as needed.

General office administrative skills, including meeting scheduling, event planning, document creation, filing, note-taking, and phone handling. Required Experience: 3 – 5 years of administrative experience in music or arts, with a preference for experience in higher education. Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience. High-level proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and macOS computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database management. Experience with website content management systems, email list management, and current social media platforms. Knowledge of basic image and video processing is preferred. Familiarity with contemporary music, with experience in composition or music technology is preferred. Submission Process: Electronic applications only.
