Director of Quality Assurance
to lead the development and implementation of quality initiatives across a multi-site organization. This role is hybrid, based in the Midwest or Southeast, and requires up to 40% travel across North America. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) strategy aligned with the organization’s goals. Drive the adoption of quality principles and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Quality Management Systems (QMS): Oversee the enhancement and maintenance of robust QMS processes, including quality control, assurance, and improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Process Analysis & Improvement: Conduct in-depth evaluations of workflows to identify areas for improvement. Lead strategic initiatives for distressed operations and value streams, using tools like APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and PPAP. Collaboration & Communication: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to align quality initiatives with business objectives. Communicate critical quality issues to senior leadership and escalate as necessary. Training & Development: Mentor teams on QA methodologies and best practices. Develop a high-performing culture through coaching and structured quality programs. Continuous Improvement: Utilize data-driven approaches to identify trends and implement preventive measures. Advocate for customer-centric solutions using methodologies like Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 8D. Supplier Quality Management: Manage supplier audits, qualifications, and corrective actions. Address risks and ensure smooth transitions for manufacturing processes. Qualifications: Required: Authorization to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship. Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environments. Expertise in QA principles and tools (e.g., APQP, FMEA, SPC, PPAP). Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards. Preferred: Master’s degree and Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Experience with ISO 9001 auditing and IATF 16949 standards. Familiarity with Asian supplier management is a plus. Other Competencies: Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to drive results, manage change, and influence at all organizational levels. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
