UCLA Health seeks a visionary academic and innovation leader to serve as its

Assistant or Associate Dean for Health AI Innovation and Strategy and Director for the UCLA Center for AI and SMART Health.

This unique position offers the opportunity to shape and drive AI vision and strategy for the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) and ensure translation of innovation in our renowned Health system. This collaborative leader will work with academic leadership, faculty, staff and trainees to harness the power of AI to transform biomedical research, decision and implementation science, and precision health. Key Responsibilities: Lead the creation of a strategic plan

for health AI research, education, and innovation, including positioning DGSOM as a leader relative to comparator institutions. Identify large-scale team-science funding opportunities

for AI-driven healthcare solutions and stimulate submissions across DGSOM and UCLA. Identify translational and commercial opportunities

for DGSOM research in health AI, fostering partnerships with industry, startups, and technology leaders. Provide strategic advice

to DGSOM leadership on recruitments, inter-institutional partnerships, funding opportunities, and educational initiatives related to health AI. Coordinate, promote, and ensure the success

of innovation and entrepreneurship in health AI, working closely with the DGSOM Dean’s Office and other stakeholders within the institution and its affiliates. Actively extend DGSOM’s commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI)

through initiatives that promote fair and equitable use of AI in healthcare. Provide guidance around educational opportunities with

the use of AI in medicine. Working with other stakeholders, ensure strong educational programs. Promote collaboration

among DGSOM staff, faculty, and trainees engaged in research and innovation related to AI in healthcare. Work closely with the Chief Health AI Officer

to ensure strategic alignment between the DGSOM and the Health System. Qualifications: National leader in biomedical AI research, education and implementation. Eligible for an academic appointment. Final academic series, rank and step will be based on candidate’s qualifications and accomplishments. MD, PhD or equivalent advanced degree required. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to building new AI strategies and technologies that benefit the overall well-being of all populations. Proven success in research education. Demonstrated leadership skills in a complex and matrixed organization. Proven ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including senior executives, clinicians, research faculty, trainees and staff.
