The Senior Director of Operation Mend, Community Relationships is a highly skilled collaborator, leader, and relationship-builder within the Operation Mend and UCLA Health Military Medicine community. While reporting to the Senior Executive Director of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital (RNPH) and partnering with the Executive Director, Development, and the Operation Mend Board of Advisors, the successful incumbent will serve as the primary leader for the identification, development, and strengthening of relationships with key external partners on behalf of the UCLA Health Operation Mend program. They will develop a strong network of philanthropic donors, non-governmental organizations both locally and nationally, government relations with both local, state, and federal organizations, campus partners, grant dispersing organizations, volunteers, community partners and more. They will accomplish this through excellent communication, partnership, negotiation, responsiveness, and advocacy so that Operation Mend can continue to serve wounded warriors with timely, high-quality care. The incumbent will develop programmatic goals and objectives and will manage others to successfully accomplish them. The successful incumbent will have several key outcomes and processes that they are responsible for managing: Oversight and execution of fundraising concepts and tactic execution including through gifts, grants, and other funding forms. Development and strengthening of board member relationships. Successful communication and relationship management with external partners. Collaboration and creation of business proposals and their supporting materials. Serves as a primary external representative of the program and University to external government agencies, network partners, and others. The Director of Operation Mend, Community Relationships will also work closely with a variety of internal partners including UCLA Health Sciences Development, UCLA Health Marketing and Communications, Government Relations, the COO of UCLA Health and others. The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Director and Senior Executive Director of RNPH to ensure continuity between external relationships / position and the internal operations; ongoing and strong communication will be vital for overall success. Salary Range: $140,200-$331,800 per year Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience required; preferably within the military or working for an organization that supported or contracted with the military preferred. • Experience with healthcare and healthcare delivery systems preferred but not required. • Experience working with external or public affairs within military environment preferred. • Experience showing success working with senior military officers, government and non-government departmental leaders, or comparable officials. • Strong working knowledge of fundraising strategies, tactics, and best practices. • Experiences establishing multi-disciplinary governance structures to drive organizational change, enable input and feedback, and strengthen professional relationships; committed to inviting participation of all relevant stakeholders/ perspectives in the evaluation and planning of all major initiatives. • Strong leadership skills while working with people of all backgrounds and at all levels. • Strong communication skills while striving to maintain situational awareness, status updates and progress, and barriers threaten project/programmatic success; strives to build consensus and alignment in decision making. • Well-developed project management skills to deliver full lifecycle project plans. • Ability to establish and maintain a spirit of cooperation and respect, flourish in an unstructured environment, and always engage in professional and ethical conduct. • Ability to foster a diverse and inclusive environment and is respectful of others’ feelings and perspectives. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and systems-level thinking skills while drawing upon past experiences; crafts innovative solutions in collaboration with other key stakeholders. • Professional level writing skills to author house-wide campaign style communications and ability to compose logical, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence, reports, and presentations. • Strong organizational skills and customer service orientation. • Ability to be visible within respective service areas and create the expectation of regular contact and interaction. • Must recognize and evaluate problems, and utilize the appropriate channels for action and barrier escalation. • High functioning team skills, including active listening and rapport building. • Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations. • Ability to follow organizational direction and infer best approaches to apply within service areas.
