Job Responsibilities

Completes driving roadway inspections in accordance with Engineering Directive 8. Records and submits deficiencies into Highway Maintenance Management System as work requests with accurate information. Maintains road deficiency data for resurfacing and preservation selection. Responsible for performing field inspections and gathering data contract work on state roads in Anderson County. This includes guardrail, mowing, pavement markings, and rest areas. Completes daily inspections of contractors based on contract specifications. Accurately calculates pavement marking quantities needed for maintenance contracts. Inspects guardrail and cable barrier per Engineering Directive 42 and when notification of damage occurs. Accurately calculates repair estimates and sends to District Office promptly for contractor repair. Required to work on 24-hour alert during emergency situations and will perform duties as needed (to include, but not limited to, evaluating road conditions while driving throughout the county, inspecting contractors for snow/ice/debris removal, or inspecting rest areas). Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise. May require working outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
