Job Summary:
The staffing coordinator coordinates work schedules, maintains staffing information, assigns staff, utilizes the computer system, updates daily staffing sheets, prepares schedules, and makes telephone calls daily to cover the staffing needs. The staffing coordinators are continuously aware of the staffing needs of the units, which allows for a centralized system to oversee the needs of the many nursing units they serve. The staffing coordinator is responsible for maintaining inpatient staffing schedules. Responsibility includes keeping the Kronos Scheduler/Timekeeper updated with all staffing edits, addressing email notification, faxes regarding staffing edits from the Nurse Manager. Provide excellent service to all the customers within the organization. Provide open, transparent communication across the system. Apply critical thinking skills when placing and assigning staff in the System Float Staff.

Job Description:
  • Utilizes the current staffing module to enter and maintain schedules and appropriate updates for inpatient units, processes scheduling requests while updating the Time/Scheduling system
  • Approves/returns balanced schedule to Nurse Manager
  • Communicates and collaborates with Nurse leaders on staffing changes daily, prepares reports
  • Makes and receives telephone calls to cover staffing needs.
  • Maintains and provides excellent customer service relations with staff and managers.
  • Maintains scheduling worksheet and daily staffing sheets, making adjustments for staff schedule changes. Ensures accurate information to any end user who needs the information, including accurate information of any premium pay information.
  • Updates and distributes various reports related to schedule and time keeping.
  • Prepares and distributes daily and weekend predictive staffing.
  • Prepares Manager Review Boards for the Weekend for the Nurse Manager
  • Distributes SFP staff to meet the needs of the units as determined by Nursing Polices/Procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
  • High School Diploma
Specialized Knowledge:
  • Basic computer experience with ability and desire to increase skills. Proven track record of excellent customer service skills (particularly telephone communication skills). Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Kind and Length of Experience:
  • One year secretarial or clerical experience in an office setting/environment.
