Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the supervision of the Reports Development Supervisor, the Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of ad-hoc and recurring reports; development of data services consumed by dashboards, organization website, and other internal and external downstream destinations.
Working with cross-functional teams, the BI Developer will participate in analyzing and clarifying report requirements, making recommendations, and educating when necessary to meet business needs.
The BI Developer will also be required to assist the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data analysis team in providing analytical support for report troubleshooting for end-users in the Los Angeles Continuum of Care.

Develop and maintain queries, reports, dashboards, and data feeds for internal and external users. Analyze business requirements and functional specifications for technical implementation (SSRS reports, dashboards, data services, etc.). Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes. Explore and keep abreast with emerging BI technologies and best practices that support or enhance the team's processes, tools, and capabilities. Assist senior staff and team members in assessing and improving business operations and processes. Provide support as required to ensure availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for internal and external users. Assist in assembling complex ideas, issues and observations into useful explanations and clear direction for the team. Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members. Participate in meetings and business and data analysis activities with cross-functional teams to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements. Complete other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Server Data Tools, and SQL Server Management Studio. Ability to develop, maintain, and tune complex stored procedures, queries, views, user-defined functions, cursors and common table expressions. Performance tuning and query optimization knowledge Experience with code testing best practices / methodologies Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) Experience in developing and maintaining ETL processes. Programming/Scripting experience and knowledge of data/system analysis, software development life cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of SQL Server database administration Intermediate to advanced skills of Excel, including VBA Preferred but not required: Knowledge of HMIS Familiarity with SSBI tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Power Pivot) Knowledge of data-modeling, data warehousing concepts and methodologies Knowledge of SSAS Familiarity with Agile development Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and organizational skills Excellent focus and attention to details Ability to work collaboratively and independently Excellent time management and prioritization skills Open to new ideas and approaches Training & Experience

Pension Plan LAHSA provides a 401A pension plan through Lincoln Financial. After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for contributions of 6% of the employee's salary with a qualification date of 500 hours or 6 months after the date of hire.
Deferred Compensation Plan LAHSA provides a 457 Deferred Compensation plan through Lincoln Financial. Employees may elect to defer up to IRS maximum limit per year of their earned salary for income tax purposes.
Time Off Administrative Leave Executive Director, chiefs, and directors receive five (5) days of admin leave each calendar year in addition to the time-off below.
Vacation Vacation is earned according to each month of service commencing with the employee's initial date of hire.
Less than three (3) years of employment, eighty (80) hours per year. Three (3) to six (6) years of employment, one hundred twenty (120) hours per year. More than six (6) years of employment, the one hundred twenty (120) hour total shall be supplemented by one (1) workday of paid leave for each twelve (12) months greater than seventy-two (72) months of employment. This vacation accrual is capped at thirty (30) workdays per year Maximum accrual of vacation leave is 240 hours.
Sick Leave Full-time employees accrue sick leave at a rate of 12 days per year. Maximum accrual of sick leave is 160 hours.
