The Phlebotomist provides skilled support in blood draws and specimen preparation while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, and record maintenance and decontamination data.
- Collect and store specimens in alignment with established procedures.
- Clearly explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
- Demonstrate proper blood collection techniques, including using straight and butterfly needles.
- Review and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, ensuring 100% accuracy.
- Prepare specimens for transport, following protocols to maintain specimen integrity, including centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
- Verify test requisitions and computer labels to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Store specimens at the correct temperature in appropriate containers for transport.
- Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations and wear all required PPE.
- Attend annual training sessions on protocols and safety.
- Respond to inquiries over the phone, including reading laboratory results when needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (as required by state regulations).
- Proficiency in specimen handling and processing techniques.
- Strong customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish-speaking proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
