- The Phlebotomy Supervisor functions as a laboratory professional who assumes responsibility of leading the Phlebotomy laboratory department.
- With direct oversight of staff who perform specimen collection duties.
- This position also oversees training, competencies, scheduling, and operations within the phlebotomy department.
- At times this role might be expected to perform specimen collections based on the hospital/laboratory need; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction and specimen culture collection instruction as assigned by their supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinical rotations or previous phlebotomy experience
- Certification from nationally recognized agency in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology
- Clinical laboratory experience as a Phlebotomist, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with knowledge of phlebotomy practices
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
- Five (5) or more years as a phlebotomist or in a technical laboratory position
- BLS
