SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Warehouse Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to maintain warehouse, raw material, packaging material, and Magnolia Foods products in compliance with Safety Quality Food Institute (SQFI) and Food Safety Internal Procedures; observe and enforce the employee safety rules and company policies; supervise and coordinate activities of workers concerned with picking, packing, shipping, receiving and fulfillment as it relates to preparing it for same day shipping; provide support to the warehouse employees, coordinating, and assigning warehouse tasks to the warehouse employees; conduct monthly meetings with warehouse employees according to the training schedule; maintain continue communication with all the plant departments and positive vendor relationships.


DUTIES

  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel safety, FDA and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Schedule warehouse team members to meet the demands of the facility. Determine staffing needs to meet workload requirements and manage day to day budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure facility is compliance with all company, FDA and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment (doors, platforms, and industrial vehicles should be in operational conditions and free of carvings or scrapes); issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Serve as an intermediary between Sales, Distribution and Manufacturing.
  • Performs the following shipping and receiving functions:
  • Keep informed of the orders to be shipped on that week.
  • Transportation inspection for proper conditions.
  • Ensure proper integrity of the load.
  • Order shipping complete documentation.
  • Proper receiving of the materials.
  • Receiving transportation properties inspection.
  • Receiving materials integrity inspection.
  • Material approbation.
  • Revision of the proper documentation for the receiving materials.
  • Proper product receiving from production.
  • Allocate necessary space for stock rotation. Provide materials to production according to the First Expired First Out Procedure (FEFO) and shipping according to the First in First Out (FIFO).)
  • Assist and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control by conducting cycle counts, reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Responsible for personnel decisions within the warehouse department.
  • Develop and execute Lean Program or Six Sigma principals as they apply to manufacturing operations.
  • Convey a deep emphasis on employee engagement through shift hand off practices and shift start-up communications.
  • Maintain contingency plans for time sensitive operations (unscheduled absentees, customer issues, systems malfunctions, inventory exceptions, transport equipment issues).
  • Develop strong partnerships with plant management, planning, transportation, quality and inventory control through daily meetings.
  • Collaborate with peers across the company to share best practices and maintain compliance.
  • Develop, Maintain, and confirm process run in accordance with SOPs and other documentation and best practices.
  • Ensure quality service to consumers by exceeding customer shipping requirements within the established time frame, and by communicating to internal contacts any issues that may impact customers.
  • Report and correct any unsafe condition in the warehouse.
  • Maintains the product quality and safety by ensuring proper handling of the products and materials.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Be able to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which is written in English. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information or communications in English.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree and/or four years of experience in Warehouse supervisor and/or management in consumer products, food and beverage specifically, preferred.
  • SQF, Silliker, or AIB course. / Curso de SQF, Silliker, o AIB
  • Previous experience with the SQF, USDA, FDA standards, or similar agencies. Knowledge of OSHA, military, health department, EPA, city and county regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of the HACCP program.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English).
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point and business management software (Ax system preferred) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with frontline employees, peers, and executives. /
  • Must be able to develop performance metrics that will ensure that the team is working to maximize shareholder investment by eliminating waste in all processes.
  • Strong internal and external customer focus with great follow-up.
  • Must be able to flourish in a heavy fabrication fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be organized and practice time management best practices.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Position reports to the Warehouse Manager. Direct Reports to this position are Warehouse Clerk and Order Pullers.
  • In the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Manager will be the substitute.
