Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operators run dozers, excavators, and rollers to prep earthwork for construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, rollers, and excavators without supervision.

  • Prepare and manage earthwork for construction projects.

  • Perform grading, leveling, trench digging, and utility installation.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of civil/site work construction experience.

  • Proficiency in operating dozers, rollers, and excavators independently.

  • OSHA 10 Certification.

  • Experience in construction, heavy equipment operations, backhoe usage.

  • Knowledge of earthwork, grading, leveling, trench digging, and utility installation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, civil work, and site management.

  • Understanding of earthwork and grading techniques.

Work Environment

Candidates will work in teams ranging from 2-3 people to over 10, reporting to the project foreman. The shift starts at 7:00 am and finishes at 3:30 pm, with flexibility required for start and finish times. Overtime is common during the busy season, with potential for 10-15+ hours per week. Occasionally, overnight work may be required. Work will be performed 100% outside on large parking lots and non-highway roads, such as connecting roads in business parks or plazas. Candidates must be prepared to work in hot and sunny conditions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Solvay, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00
