Lead Hardware Engineer

Our exciting Space client are looking for a Lead Hardware Engineer to play a critical role in both leading and contributing to cutting-edge hardware development through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, development, prototyping, implementation, verification, testing, integration, calibration, and documentation.


What you’ll do:


  • Architect, design, develop, manufacture, and test the next generation Hardware, Sensors & Systems.
  • Be responsible for hardware through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, manufacturing, implementation testing, integration, calibration, documentation, and ownership through final release and delivery.
  • Contribute to the company’s engineering culture by implementing best engineering practices and helping to improve on existing processes and procedures.
  • Design, document, implement, simulate, and test new hardware designs including planning and estimation of the required tasks.
  • Develop and document requirements and specifications of digital hardware and systems.
  • Actively engage with both internal and external customers.


Experience Required (mix of the below)


  • BS. in Electrical Engineering ideally with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience being an effective technical team leader with skills in managing and maintaining the execution of an interdisciplinary engineering team.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with changing priorities & demonstrated experience mixing serial hardware development with software development that utilizes Agile methodology.
  • Experience working with Altium circuit design and layout tool packages (or similar complex development tools)
  • Experience with large FPGAs (Xilinx Ultrascale, Xilinx Ultrascale+, et cetera) and high-speed Multi-Gbps transceivers (JESD204, PCIE, 10GigE, et cetera) including signal integrity analysis and implementation of the copper transmission paths.
  • Experience with low speed interfaces (USB, SPI, UART, SpaceWire)
  • Experience with designing multi giga-sample ADCs & DACs
  • Experience with board bring-up, debugging, and validation experience, including development of Test Procedures
  • Experience with designing for Space/Radiation environments
  • Electrical Systems Engineering experience (i.e., working to derive requirements from end-use applications).
