HR Manager- Hybrid in San Diego, CA
LHH is excited to partner with a remarkable non-profit organization in search of a dynamic HR Manager. This pivotal role will support the organization's impactful mission by overseeing essential HR and payroll functions.
The HR Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll, addressing employee relations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and handling onboarding and offboarding processes. Additionally, this role will support office operations and collaborate with the Executive Director on governance practices and the maintenance of critical organizational documents. This is an incredible opportunity to work a flexible hybrid schedule while contributing to a meaningful cause!

The HR Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll, addressing employee relations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and handling onboarding and offboarding processes. Additionally, this role will support office operations and collaborate with the Executive Director on governance practices and the maintenance of critical organizational documents. Responsibilities:
- Lead employee relations efforts, addressing concerns proactively and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with California state employment laws and regulations, updating policies as needed.
- Stay informed about legal and regulatory changes and adjust policies and procedures accordingly.
- Coordinate and develop staff retreats and training programs in collaboration with the Social Committee.
- Identify and facilitate training and development opportunities to support staff growth and improve organizational performance.
- Manage the onboarding process for new hires, providing a welcoming and informative experience.
- Oversee offboarding procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for departing employees and conducting exit interviews.
- Manage requisition processes to ensure employees have the necessary equipment, technology, subscriptions, and supplies for a hybrid work environment.
- Support IT and telecommunications functions by liaising with contractors and addressing technology-related issues.
- Partner with the Executive Director to advance the organization’s governance model.
- Manage governance practices, including agenda preparation, briefing materials, and presentations.
- Oversee the nominations and elections process to ensure fairness and transparency.
- Assist with volunteer leadership nominations and appointments, as well as volunteer counseling or disciplinary matters.
- Ensure compliance with organizational bylaws and policies, and maintain critical governance documents.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of HR management experience.
- Experience in non-profit governance and/or working with volunteer committees is a plus.
- Bachelors degree, SHRM certification or other relevant HR credentials are highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of California employment laws and regulations.
- Strong organizational, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
