Job Purpose
The Sr. HR Business Partner (HRBP) is a key partner to the business, with a keen focus on leveraging the best of talent management practices and expertise to drive business outcomes through our most precious resource – people! You will play a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives, fostering a positive and inclusive culture, and driving employee engagement, retention, and performance. You will partner with leadership across the organization to provide guidance and support on talent management, employee relations, and organizational development; reinforcing our strong company’s strong culture and employment brand. In this role, you will serve as the primary HR business partner supporting our subsidiary, Valta Energy, in addition to supporting the broader Longroad team. This role is a hybrid and based out of Dana Point, San Francisco or Boston. Must be flexible to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, connecting with departments to discuss HR initiatives, employee concerns, and talent strategies that align with both short- and long-term business goals.
- Employee Relations & Investigations: Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and objective investigations to ensure fairness, compliance, and alignment with company values and legal requirements.
- Talent & Workforce Planning: Collaborate with leadership on strategic workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development, ensuring the right talent is in place to support the company's growth and evolving needs within the renewable energy sector.
- Job Descriptions & Hiring Support: Partner with hiring managers to craft clear, compelling job descriptions and recruitment strategies that align with the company’s goals and attract top-tier talent in a competitive market.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain in-depth knowledge of employment law and industry-specific regulations, ensuring the company’s HR practices are compliant, equitable, and inclusive. Seek guidance from external legal partners as necessary.
- Performance Management & Coaching: Provide day-to-day performance guidance to management, including coaching, counseling, and supporting career development, while ensuring the consistent application of disciplinary actions and performance management processes.
- Organizational Culture & Employee Engagement: Promote a positive, inclusive organizational culture. Lead employee engagement initiatives, including facilitating focus groups and recommending actionable strategies to improve morale and retention.
- Leadership Development: Work closely with leadership to foster the development of high-performing teams, ensuring alignment with company values. Provide leadership coaching to management to help them navigate change and drive performance.
- Change Management & Restructuring: Lead change management initiatives, including workforce restructuring and organizational shifts, business leveling and compensation, to support business transformation and growth in the renewable energy sector.
- Training & Development: Identify training needs in partnership with the Training Manager, and develop training programs that support employee growth and the company’s strategic goals.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Partner with the HR Operations team to analyze trends and metrics, leveraging data to drive innovative HR solutions, enhance employee engagement, and optimize talent management strategies.
- Remote Workforce Support: Support HR strategies for a flexible workforce, ensuring consistency in employee experience and communication across locations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of direct, relevant experience as an HR Business Partner, supporting a client group of 200+ employees.
- Employee Relations Expertise: Extensive experience handling sensitive employee relations issues and HR investigations with a focus on fairness and compliance.
- Talent Strategy: Proven ability to achieve business outcomes by recommending and implementing talent strategies that influence leaders across various business functions.
- Legal & Compliance Knowledge: Deep knowledge of employment law, including compliance with equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
- Leadership & Coaching: Experience advising and coaching leaders, enabling them to drive high performance and employee engagement.
- HR Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR information systems and talent data management and analysis tools.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, handling ambiguity and managing complex HR situations independently.
- Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of the renewable energy sector and the ability to navigate industry-specific challenges, regulations, and talent management needs.
- Program and Training Design: Experience building and implementing new talent processes, training, tools and policies
