Position: Legal Secretary
Location: McLean, VA
Salary: $60-80,000 + excellent benefits
Schedule: 37.5 hour work week, typically 9AM-5PM (flex window). Potential OT for trial prep. OT is paid starting at 37.5 hours
Hybrid: No. This position will be full-time in office (non-negotiable)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is a top law firm with offices in five cities in the United States. For 45 years the firm specializes on the litigation of complex commercial construction disputes and the representation of owners, contractors, engineers and sureties. This position will sit in their McLean office in the heart of Tysons. The legal secretary will be supporting senior equity partners who service a diverse background including both government and the private sector. It is essential to be a team player who possesses excellent people and time management skills who has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES:
Administrative Support:
Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and attorneys.
Maintain and update case record system.
Answer phone calls, take notes, and redirect calls when appropriate.
Keep multiple agendas and provide timely reminders.
Input expense reimbursement and check requests.
Legal Tasks:
Prepare court statements and forms.
Transcribe and proofread legal documents.
Support legal research by communicating with vendors, experts, opposing counsel, and other staff.
Assist with trial preparation and briefs.
Index and update pleading and discovery binders.
Travel and Scheduling:
Make travel arrangements.
Schedule client and attorneys appointments.
Experience:
Minimum 3+ years recent litigation legal secretarial experience within the law firm.
Proficiency in typing (65+ wpm).
Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures.
Solid understanding of technical legal terminology and court filings.
Experience with trial preparation and briefs.
Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with law firm billing software is a plus.
