Job Summary:
Directly supporting manufacturing but reporting to the Engineering Manager, applicant will be responsible for establishing scopes of work activities associated with components, assemblies, and machines in the Centrifuge Project. Provides senior level guidance and support to the Centrifuge Program to accomplish goals and objectives while also mentoring lower-level staff to ensure compliance to Centrus standards and practices.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

- Establishes routings, processes, and procedures for fabrication, assembly, and repair of complex components
- Drives data driven process launch activities with internal and external strategic suppliers
- Leads efforts to establishing scopes of work (including milestones, deliverables,
- Leads efforts to identify opportunities for process improvements in machining techniques, fixturing approaches, material properties, tooling/coatings, coolants/fluids choice and application techniques, and other Lean manufacturing approaches
- Documents potential risks or shortfalls in future state processes
- Capable of effectively developing, managing, and executing projects in a timely fashion
- Manages work and assist less experienced staff in completing work and reporting status periodically as required by management
- Supports planning and analysis activities
- Leads efforts with other team members to ensure project interfaces are seamless - no overlaps or gaps, including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, and testing
- Designs manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities
- Develops specifications for fabrication materials and equipment
- Assists in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication
- Manages work to ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements
- Experience designing, building, producing and troubleshooting high vacuum and high speed dynamic systems
- Experience designing, building, producing and composite parts and assemblies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 5-7 years of experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years CAD experience (CREO experience a plus)
- Experience with lean manufacturing/6 sigma in a ISO-TS environment
- Project Management experience
- Masters Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q level security clearance
- Centrifuge manufacturing experience is a plus
- Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems
