Job Summary
Direct support for manufacturing processes (Resin Transfer Molding, Fabric Layup, Bonding, Machining, Assembly) with technical responsibility for part fabrication and delivery methods in a fast moving environment. Performs a variety of engineering tasks in daily Manufacturing support through planning, designing and modifying tooling and processes. Resolves production problems and completes required standard work instructions on assigned part(s). Interfaces with customers on technical topics related to assigned part(s).
Job Responsibilities
General
• Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards
• Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production
• Employ Zero Defect Manufacturing tools to eliminate non-conformances.
• Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
• Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean Initiatives
• Support/lead root cause and corrective action investigations
• Interface with interested parties as a member of the product IPT
• Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems
• Capable of being a technical representative, representing the department at a customer/supplier meeting
• Identifies and anticipates technical problems and offers solutions
• Ability to perform statistical analysis and process capability
• Acts without supervision in own area and able to mentor others
• Ability to develop working relationships with other departments
• Sets example through own behavior and attitude. Able to contribute to effective project plans
• Ability to explain concepts to a variety of audiences effectively
Job Qualifications
Formal Qualifications
Education
• Bachelors in engineering or related fields (i.e. Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Aerospace, etc.)
Essential
• 3 + years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience in creating working instructions, BOM's
• Experience with 3D CAD software and tool design. Preferably NX or CATIA
• Strong Communication skills
• U.S. Citizen comply with site SSA requirements
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in RTM Composite Molding, Composite Machining, hand lay ups, composite bonding
• Experience with NX Fiber SIM
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP
• Experience with Material Review Board systems
• Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
• Prepared to travel domestically; Expected travel <5% of year
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to work in a production environment and travel throughout the facility and corporation to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
• Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
• Prolonged sitting and terminal use and have the ability to move around a manufacturing environment.
• Employee must lift and/or move up to 30 lbs., using proper lifting technique
