Preferably hold a high school diploma or GED certificate; ability to read basic operating instructions; custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas; be at least 18 years of age; be physically able to do custodial work; ability to plan work and carry out duties without supervision; ability to work from specifications and oral instructions; knowledge of safety rules and regulations; have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community.
This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 248 day position.
Job requires setting and working from extension ladders, moving furniture and furnishings, lifting/stacking supplies, lifting disposal containers (60-100 pounds).
Responsibilities include:
To sweep, mop, wax, dust, vacuum, and other general cleaning tasks in assigned areas.
To scrub and disinfect toilet doors daily and clean drinking fountains, urinals, toilet bowls, and other fixtures daily using such materials as will keep them in a clean and sanitary condition.
Wash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year.
To report immediately any damage to school property giving, whenever possible, the name of persons responsible.
To be on duty in the building when events are scheduled outside of regular school hours, if such is requested by the head custodian and/or principal.
To remain on the premises during scheduled work hours.
To perform other duties as assigned by the head custodian and/or principal and the Supervisor of Maintenance.
