MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, Experience, Licensure and Certification
- Experience Required: Prior job-related experience school or institutional setting
- Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies
- Adhering to safe work practices
- Using cleaning agents, supplies, and equipment
- Operating computer programs and applications (e.g. email, system applications, word processing, etc.)
- Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions
- Performing basic math to calculate accurate dilution of cleaning agents
- Working from heights of up to 30 feet
- Functioning as a self-starter, who works well independently or in a team
- Working independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks and adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice
- Handling multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously
- Developing effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
- Interacting with persons of different age groups and cultural backgrounds
- Performs general cleaning and overall maintenance of school facilities (i.e. classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment
- Follows a cleaning schedule within an area of responsibility developed by appropriate personnel
- Arranges furnishings and equipment to prepare spaces for internal and community group activities and events
- Ensures energy conservation practices are in use
- Identify and report any unsafe and damaged school building conditions to appropriate personnel
- Informs students, other site personnel, and supervisor for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities
- Operates all equipment (e.g. lifts and ladders) in a safe manner
- Performs minor repairs to structures and maintains equipment
- Maintains a custodial communication system
- Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work site
- Evaluates situations to take appropriate action and/or direct the situation to the appropriate personnel for resolution
- Delivers variety of items (i.e. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties
- Supports the relationship between the school and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with parents, community members, and other school visitors.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the scope of the position
- Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition
- Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items as needed to properly maintain facilities
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- Ability to:
- sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
- climb stairs and ladders
- talk and hear conversations in a potentially noisy environment
- use arms, wrists and hands in repetitive movements such as grasping and squeezing
- reach for and handle objects
- use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds or moving by pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds may also be required on occasion.
- Maintaining regular and punctual attendance. In case of an absence site and/or district protocol for reporting absences is followed.
- Maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding information about students, staff, and District operations
- Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for the assignment and the work setting
- Exercising prudent judgment
- Work independently in the performance of routine duties
- Follow all District policies and work procedures
- Participate in required meetings and trainings related to the position
- Maintain required licenses/certifications and successfully complete required training for the position
