JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for overseeing the administration of all leaves of absence, team member benefits and retirement programs, onboarding, workers' compensation, tuition assistance, and unemployment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains documentation as it relates to record-keeping as well as maintaining the personnel files.
  • Answer general HR-related questions regarding policy, procedures, and benefits.
  • Assist team members with benefits enrollment and assist with benefits-related reporting and information in MIND 24-7's HR software.
  • Tracks, maintains, and sends out communications regarding employee licensing credentials.
  • Effective and efficient communication with all stakeholders.
  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality for all employee records and information including but not limited to wages, benefits, and personnel issues.
  • Serves as a backup resource for all areas of the human resources department as needed.
  • Assists with all internal and external HR-related matters as needed.
  • Assists with planning and execution of organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and holiday celebrations.
  • Oversees and ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations and onboarding of new team members.
  • Oversees quality checks of benefits-related data and audits bills.
  • Assists team members regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Manages and distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Manages the enrollment of team members with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and Team Members on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Manages, processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and team members relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Assist with 401k enrollments and company match enrollments.
  • Manages the annual and open enrollment process.
  • Oversees the administration of the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Conducts benefits meetings with all benefit eligible new hires.
  • Facilitates companywide communications on benefits/ LOA changes and regularly communicates with Employees and managers regarding benefits related items.
  • Stays up to date on any changes to FMLA, ADA, benefit administration, or any other applicable state and federal laws.
  • Assists with new employee onboarding, ID Badge printing and other special projects as assigned.
  • This position is based in the office and is not remote.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Three years' experience as an HR/Benefits Specialist in a fast-paced office setting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, including Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience with Human Capital Management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Five years' experience as an HR/Benefits Specialist, preferably in healthcare.
