Position Summary:
The Deputy Chief Information Officer assists the CIO with the management and oversight of a hybrid (insourced and outsourced) organization. He/She also is responsible for managing projects, documentation, contract administration, and providing advice and assistance to the outsourced portion of the organization consistent with their field of expertise.
Position Responsibilities:
Supports the processes and procedures that are performed by an organization to plan, design, deliver operate, and control information technology (IT) services offered to customers. Provides oversight and direction of all ITS Directors, Managers, and Technicians in the entire ITS Infrastructure team including Networking, System Administration, Telecommunications, and Security. Provides oversight and quality assurance of all vendor contracts as it specifically pertains to IT infrastructure and acts as a point of escalation for problems or issues. Manages projects and programs using participating university and contractor staffs, overseeing their organization, planning, monitoring, and closure. Manages and/or participates in assigned IT Governance committees. Prepares, manages, and monitors operational and capital budgets for the IT infrastructure areas. Manages the relationships between the key IT vendors and the University. Liaises between key university stakeholders and the ITS organization. Provides reports for assigned projects and issues. Participates in the IT Change Control process by using standardized methods to ensure efficient and prompt handling of all changes to IT infrastructure - in order to minimize impacts on service. Creates/Maintains an ITIL Service Catalog specific to IT services provided by the IT infrastructure organizations. Oversees the organization, analysis, and monitoring of capital and operational costs and expenditures for the IT infrastructure areas. Review contracts and third-party agreements from an IT perspective to ensure the quality of services, cost, and compliance with University policies. Assist with annual University IT audit. Performs the duties of the CIO upon his/her absence and direction.
Experience & Education Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent in education and experience with a minimum of 15 years of related work experience in higher education Networking Telecommunications, or Server system administration. A master's degree is highly desirable. Foundations certification in the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) required.
Skills & Competencies:
Project management skills preferably using either Service Now or Microsoft Project. Budget management skills using Microsoft Excel. Change management skills using Service Now. Service Catalog management using Service Now. Fosters encourages and facilitates open communication and an atmosphere of open expression and communication. Highly self-motivated and directed. Ability to meet organizational goals and customer expectations. Gain cooperation by explicitly addressing other's interests and concerns. Salary Range:
