to determine if you qualify. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for a Program Coordinator 2 located in Anchorage! What you will be doing: This position will design and implement a new statewide angler recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) program to promote Alaska's boating and non-boating angler access sites, increase participation in Alaska's sport fisheries, and boost fishing license sales. Additionally, this position will develop strategic partnerships and secure funding for the division's educational outreach programs, as well as oversee the development and operation of the ADF&G Sport Fish Division's Ship Creek Fisheries Center at the William Jack Hernandez Hatchery and the Tanana Valley Fisheries Center at the Ruth Burnett Sport Fish Hatchery in an effort to enhance public engagement and education. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and establish an angler recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) program that promotes participation in recreational fishing and boating activities, with the goal of measurably increasing participation and fishing license sales revenues. Develop and implement a measurable marketing and branding strategy for the angler R3 program that promotes sport fishing in Alaska, particularly in hatchery enhanced fisheries, including the development of a feasibility assessment for retail merchandising. Establish and foster statewide partnerships with conservation, sportsmen/women, and outdoor recreation organizations, as well as representatives of the visitor industry to promote Alaska’s sport fisheries and leverage collaborative funding and volunteer resource opportunities. Secure program funding from federal and other grant opportunities, corporate giving and community development programs, as well as private donors. Establish and maintain the Sport Fish Division’s Ship Creek Fisheries Center (SCFC) and Tanana Valley Fisheries Center (TVFC) to provide a dynamic public visitor experience at the William Jack Hernandez and Ruth Burnett Sport Fish Hatcheries and establish any policies and procedures necessary for effective program implementation. The working environment you can expect: This position will have dedicated office space in the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery and shared transient office space in the ADF&G Anchorage building, with the potential to have an optional hybrid telework agreement. The daily work environment requires working at a desk in front of a computer, as well as frequent and effective communication and involvement with the public, potential partner entities, division leadership, regional communication and outreach staff, and program staff within each of the division's core services. The position will require occasional in- and out-of-state travel to attend meetings, workshops, conduct or assist with public outreach events, and/or collect project video and photos. Who we are looking for: Considerable knowledge of best practices amongst state fish and wildlife management agencies for effective angler R3 marketing and outreach program development strategies that result in increased participation in recreational fishing and boating activities by the public, and familiarity with Alaska's fisheries management, research, and enhancement practices. Considerable knowledge of the ADF&G Sport Fish Division's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems function, and operate effectively within. Demonstrated ability to think critically, by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Demonstrated ability to make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceive the impact and implications of decisions; and commit to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals and cause change. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with multi-disciplined professionals and peers within and outside the agency. Special Note: A valid driver's license is required. Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in: Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving Compliance Decision Making Planning and Evaluating Organizational Awareness Equivalent to those typically gained by training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program, including having administrative authority over the program/project funding, staff, and/or overall operations.
