This Research Software Developer is responsible for:
Providing support to develop and maintain research software applications, platforms, and informatics systems for research. May make recommendations for software design and improvements. Researching and identifying the requirements of software development and application programming needs. Designing, developing, coding, testing, and implementing software that supports the needs of multiple research projects, considering the individual goals and objectives of each entity. Participating in standards for development and software selection and making software development process and design recommendations within the department or program and to project stakeholders. Providing analytical and technical guidance to team members and stakeholders. Identifying requirements, developing software design, coding, planning and executing testing, and ensuring that the software delivered meets specifications. Producing written documentation for new and existing processes, programs, code, applications, and workflow. Keeping software documentation accurate and up to date. To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required. A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience is required. Additional experience in a research setting is preferred. Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems and design relatively complex systems and programs whose use crosses departmental, divisional, and/or institutional boundaries. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and actively contribute to team-based software development.
