Training Instructor III - Operations

Reports to a Training Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for the delivery of approved technical training materials. The technical training is provided to qualify personnel for positions in plant operations, maintenance, laboratory, radiological control organization, engineering and/or other technical training.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

Conduct technical training (e.g. classroom and/or on-the-job training), including instruction, exam administration and training effectiveness evaluations:
  • Implement training program to qualify operations, maintenance, laboratory, radiological control, and/or other technical personnel to ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform work safely with competencies commensurate with their responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and communicate between the training organization and other line management or support organizations to ensure training needs are identified and met through effective training.
  • Perform observations and assessments to ensure activities are implemented safely and effectively in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support a strong Nuclear Safety Quality Culture (NSQC) by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work, in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree preferably with courses in education or training that focus on delivery and testing as well as evaluation of training programs, and 8 years' experience as a trainer and/or operator at a Department of Energy Nuclear facility or similar high-hazard facility. 1 year of technical training implementation experience or experience with on-the-job training in technical field of expertise.

Associate degree preferably with courses in education or training that focus on delivery and testing as well as evaluation of training programs, and 10 years' experience as a trainer and/or operator at a Department of Energy Nuclear facility or similar high-hazard facility. 1 year of technical training implementation experience or experience with on-the-job training in technical field of expertise.

HS Diploma preferably with courses in education or training that focus on delivery and testing as well as evaluation of training programs, and 12 years' experience as a trainer and/or operator at a Department of Energy Nuclear facility or similar high-hazard facility. 1 year of technical training implementation experience or experience with on-the-job training in technical field of expertise.

*Must possess strong computer skills.

Preferred candidates will have:
  • At least 6 years' experience in technical instruction in Naval Nuclear, Department of Energy Nuclear, or Commercial Nuclear Operations.
  • At least 1 years' experience in technical instruction of a DOE Order 426.2 curricula.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world's largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S.

Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory.
