What you'll be doing:
Cleo is, and always has been, an AI company (9 years running!) and we're pointing humanity's most powerful technology at one of consumers' biggest pain points: money. It's a profound story of innovation and customer-first thinking, and we're looking for a seasoned strategic Comms leader to help tell it.
As our VP of Comms, you'll set the strategic direction of Cleo's communications efforts in line with our business goals, company vision, and brand. We are looking for a proactive, creative, and strategic thinker and doer with a proven track record of supporting organizations in all aspects of communication, including: executive communications, public relations, and media relations in both the consumer and investor space.
The successful candidate is a team player with a can-do attitude and the ability to proactively "connect the dots", and deliver effective communications strategies and outcomes in a fast-paced environment. We're looking for someone who can manage high-stakes projects and think big picture but also roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
Strong writing skills are a given, as well as executive presence with a keen understanding of the technology industry (preferably in AI and/or Fintech).
As our
VP of Comms , you will:
Develop and implement a comprehensive PR and communications strategy aligned with Cleo's brand vision and business objectives Craft compelling company narratives for both consumer and investor audiences Lead an internal team and external partners in their efforts to pitch top-tier media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers Oversee the planning and execution of media campaigns, product launches, and corporate announcements, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels Identify, advise on, and execute high-visibility executive speaking opportunities aligned with the business priorities Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product, R&D) to ensure alignment in messaging, campaigns, and timelines Manage communications budget, optimizing value and results from agency relationships as well as the internal team by setting ambitious KPIs Analyze and report back on media coverage, audience reach, and sentiment, and adjust strategies to ensure impactful results Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities to adapt and evolve Cleo's communications approach About you
15+ years of leadership experience in corporate communications - including public relations (consumer and investor audiences) media relations and executive communications in the tech industry. Preferably in AI and/or Fintech. Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop, plan, and execute strategic communications initiatives that align with broader company objectives. Brand Storyteller: Proficient in creating narratives that resonate with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders and enhance brand perception. Proven leader with the ability to communicate, delegate, org design, and develop direct reports; Minimum of 7 years in people management. Analytically-minded expert in analyzing PR metrics, media coverage, and sentiment, with the ability to leverage insights to drive improvements. Digital and Social Media Savvy: In-depth understanding of digital and social media trends and tools, with experience integrating them into PR strategies. Demonstrated experience presenting to and interacting with press, executive leaders, board members, customers, and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to write about complex topics, such as AI, in a simple, easy to understand way. The ability to manage multiple projects at once while delivering high quality work, adhering to standards and meeting deadlines. Strong team ethic and collaborative work style; but must be able to work independently, assume responsibility and be accountable. Candidates located in Eastern or Central time zones are preferred.
