Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Job Specialty: General Surgery Job Duration: Shift: Varied 8-hour shifts, Days/Nights, 80 hours per pay period Guaranteed Hours: Experience: Preferred: 1 year of previous Surgical Technologist experience; Consideration for new graduates with successful clinical experience. License: Certifications: - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through governing body, e.g., National Board Surgical Technologists (NBST), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or obtained within 12 months of hire. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must-Have: - Graduate from an accredited Associate degree surgical technologist program. - Solid PC skills, including MS applications, Internet, etc. Job Description: - Assist the surgeon during operative procedures within the scope of practice, including holding retractors, cutting suture material as directed, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressings. - Create a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile technique, surgical conscience, universal precautions, and safety procedures. - Care for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning for future use. - Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical customers and families. - Recognize emergency situations and respond promptly and effectively. - Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal outcomes for patients. - Evaluate own practice in relation to professional standards and relevant statutes and regulations. - Comply with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to the area of responsibility. - Follow principles and standards as outlined in the organization's Code of Conduct. - Protect customer and team member privacy and access related information only as needed to perform job duties. - Report violations or areas of concern to a leader or Compliance Officer via established communication methods.
