POSITION SUMMARY
The Sports Turf Intern is primarily responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the playing field and surrounding ballpark grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist in all aspects of turfgrass management of the playing field and surrounding stadium grounds
- Conduct daily field maintenance, including mowing, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, hand watering, mound and home plate repair, bullpen mound repair, infield skin and baseline maintenance, warning track preparation, and tarp pulls
- Assist in preparation for all baseball games and outside events
- Support the Field Operations team in executing daily tasks and long-term projects
- Providing training and support to seasonal groundskeeping staff to ensure tasks are performed to a high standard
- Other duties as assigned
- Baseball field maintenance experience
- Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Knowledge of turfgrass management practices
- Ability to perform labor intensive tasks
- Staff management and time management skills
- Basic equipment troubleshooting skills
- Must respect the privacy of players and coaches
- Completion of a satisfactory background check
- Work in fast-paced environment
- Majority of work is conducted outdoors
- Flexibility to work long hours, evenings and weekends
- Minimal travel required
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs
- Ability to walk briskly or run as the position requires
