Electrical Lockout / Tagout Technician ( LOTO )

Role Overview:

The Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Coordinator/Technician is responsible for implementing and managing the organization's lockout/tagout program to ensure the safety of employees when servicing or maintaining equipment. The role involves developing procedures, training employees, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.

Requirements:

  1. Program Management:
    • Develop, maintain, and update LOTO procedures for all applicable equipment and processes.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, NFPA70(e) and other relevant safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits of LOTO programs and procedures to ensure effectiveness.
  2. Training & Communication:
    • Train employees and contractors on LOTO policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Serve as the point of contact for LOTO-related questions and issues.
    • Communicate program changes and updates to relevant personnel.
  3. Implementation & Oversight:
    • Oversee the proper application of LOTO procedures during maintenance or servicing activities
    • Verify the use of approved locks, tags, and devices.
    • Monitor and document compliance with LOTO protocols
  4. Equipment Management:
    • Maintain an inventory of LOTO devices, locks, and tags.
    • Ensure all LOTO equipment is inspected regularly and replaced as needed.
  5. Incident Investigation:
    • Assist in investigating incidents or near misses related to LOTO.
    • Develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional safety training or certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR) is a plus.
  • 2 - 3 years of prior safety or EHS experience in a construction or industrial environment.
  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with diverse personnel.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a safety-oriented role.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 510 or similar safety certifications.
  • LOTO-specific training certification.
  • NFPA70(e) training required
