Position Overview:
The Electrical Equipment Energization Coordinator will oversee and manage the safe, efficient, and timely energization of electrical equipment on a project site. This role requires close coordination with the Owner, General Contractor, Electrical Contractors, and internal project teams to ensure all energization activities align with project schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols. The coordinator will also collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) personnel and the Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) Coordinator to ensure proper procedures are followed.Key
Responsibilities:
- Energization Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and manage detailed schedules and plans for electrical equipment energization.
- Coordinate energization activities with the Owner, General Contractor, and Electrical Contractors to ensure alignment with overall project timelines.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to provide updates, resolve conflicts, and address delays.
- Collaboration with QA and LOTO:
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that all equipment is inspected, tested, and approved prior to energization.
- Collaborate with the Lock-out/Tag-out Coordinator to verify proper LOTO procedures are in place, documented, and enforced to ensure a safe energization process.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all energization activities comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Conduct pre-energization meetings to review safety protocols and procedures with all stakeholders.
- Facilitate job hazard analyses (JHA) and safety walkthroughs as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of energization schedules, progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Document QA inspections, test results, and any deviations from plans.
- Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, highlighting status, risks, and corrective actions taken.
- Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Identify risks and troubleshoot issues related to the energization process.
- Implement solutions collaboratively with contractors and project teams to mitigate delays or safety concerns.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all energization-related activities.
- Facilitate meetings and ensure clear communication among the Owner, General Contractor, Electrical Contractors, QA teams, and LOTO Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical systems coordination, construction management, or industrial energization processes.
- Proven experience working with electrical contractors, owners, and construction teams.
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes, safety regulations, and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office Suite.
