Job Description
A Day in the Life of a Phlebotomy Manager:
The Phlebotomy Manager is a member of the Laboratory Leadership team, providing leadership and supervision to phlebotomy. This position is responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements, quality control, and patient satisfaction. Participates in employee selection, orientation/training, competency, and performance evaluations. The Phlebotomy Manager works closely with the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Medical Director, and Laboratory Leadership team.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:
- Accepts responsibility for employee selection, orientation, training, competency, and performance evaluation.
- Creates Phlebotomy schedule and ensures department is staffed appropriately.
- Completes employee payroll and PTO tasks.
- Performs employee counseling and disciplinary actions as needed. Ensures occurrence reporting system follow-up and documentation.
- Writes new policies and procedures as needed; reviews and revises existing policies and procedures on annual basis; keeps staff informed of test, methodology or policy/procedure changes.
- Ensures Phlebotomy Department compliance with CAP/TJC/CLIA/OSHA/AABB and other relevant agency rules and regulations.
- Coordinates with Laboratory Information Services (LIS) team to update/troubleshoot Epic system, handheld devices, and downtime
- Accepts responsibility for investigation, follow up, and service recovery for dissatisfied or concerned patients, families, physicians, and clients.
- Participates in committees, meetings, and process improvement teams as needed.
- Provides operational leadership and has budget responsibilities.
- Performs duties of phlebotomy staff as needed for coverage.
- Works with the other Lab leaders to positively influence the Lab culture.

Here Is What You Will Need:
- High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency
- Five (5) or more years of phlebotomy experience
- Three (3) or more years of leadership experience
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science field
- PeopleSoft or other ordering/invoicing system experience
- Epic Beaker experience
