Position Overview
We are looking for a
Principal Embedded Software Engineer
to join the R&D team responsible for developing new products and improving existing ones. This person is expected to be responsible for well-designed and well-tested code, and to apply creative solutions to problems. Responsibilities Develop embedded software solutions from the architectural level down to the hardware. Develop software requirements from system requirements. Develop architecture and design documentation. Participate in the creation of modular solutions for software designs. Design, develop, test and document embedded system software for new and existing Insulet products. Ensure that designs comply with Company policies, and that software activities are appropriate for the design and maintenance of medical products. Work with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and Manufacturing to ensure that designs meet technical, regulatory and manufacturing requirements. Work closely with other software, software QA, systems, and hardware engineers to integrate, debug, and test systems. Participate in product design reviews. Direct and mentor other engineers. Communicate with multiple levels of the organization. Required Skills and Competencies 10+ years of relevant work experience. Strong programming skills in C and/or C++. Hands-on experience with embedded systems. Experience on processors like ARM, TI, ST (or similar embedded system microcontrollers). Thorough understanding of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, etc.). Thorough understanding of real-time systems. Detail oriented, with effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills and Competencies Object-oriented programming, as implemented in C. RTOS knowledge and experience. Experience with FDA and other medical regulatory environments. Knowledge of wireless protocols like Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Agile or other software development life cycle concepts. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Additional Information The position can be remote, hybrid or in-person at our [Acton, MA office]. The preferred location is [Acton, MA]. Travel is estimated at 10% but will flex depending on business need. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $169,125.00 - $253,687.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
