Job Details
Reporting to the SVP & Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will support the Corporate Controller in managing the day-to-day activities in the accounting team and serve as a delegate to the Corporate Controller. This position will play a significant role in designing processes fit for a fast-growing company as it scales.
A key requirement of this role will be to a have strong financial background and working knowledge of GAAP standards, which will be important in maintaining and analyzing financial information, along with preparing financial reports and schedules to maintain accurate record of assets, liabilities, and profit and loss.
The Assistant Controller will have experience in creating/maintaining a solid financial infrastructure and processes, including driving efficiencies to support the company’s growth and profitability, ensure solid internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. This person must be a dynamic self-starter and have a “Can-Do” attitude that performs well in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Experience in navigating a technology enabled services organization with complex operations is a key attribute of a successful candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the day-to-day activities in the Accounting department: month end and year end close financial statement interim and year end audit p&l and balance sheet trend analysis capitalized labor accounts payable accruals and account reconciliations accuracy bonus and commission review cash forecasting debt monitoring lease accounting fixed assets tracking Monitor and analyze accounting data and provide insights and propose actions. Participate in tactical day-to-day treasury functions and banking relationships Establish workflows and processes to effectively accomplish business goals and objectives Collaborate with team members and support their roles as appropriate. Establish and monitor proper accounting processes, methods, policies, and principles. Develop and maintain established internal controls. Perform controls testing. Actively prepare, analyze, and report on month end results. Provide metrics. Maintain awareness of GAAP accounting standards and impact to financial reporting. Proactively identify business process improvements, implement best practices, and fully utilize the capabilities of the Company’s ERP system (NetSuite). Assist external auditors, tax preparers, insurance providers and medical benefits to complete their engagements. Ad Hoc project assignments, including M&A support and budgeting.
Qualifications
10 plus years of progressive accounting and finance experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License Work experience in public accounting Knowledge of finance, accounting, payroll, budgeting and banking control principles Experience with and knowledge of automated accounting reporting systems (NetSuite) Educated on federal and state tax and financial regulations Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections Possess professional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Must demonstrate attention to detail, with a “hands-on mindset” and the ability to multi-task Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes
