Section Manager Maintenance

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager Maintenance at our Burns Harbor, Indiana operation. This role provides supervisory control over engineers and front-line managers and their crews, maintains effective employee relations, ensures the reliability of plant power system through efficient maintenance of the power infrastructure and components and ensures that quality products are manufactured safely and on-time.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Manages engineers and front-line managers and their subordinate crews.
- Oversees power system operations and associated equipment maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Directs and coordinates the development of short and long-range operation/maintenance plans, budgets, and performance targets.
- Prioritizes tasks within the constraints of the safety standards, environmental regulations, production needs, budget, and labor agreements.
- Acts as a consultant, provides technical and mechanical support, periodically works in the operational areas.
- Resolves equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action.
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems.
- Collaborates with other departments regarding internal/external customer requests for corrective actions or continuous improvement of projects, process efficiency, product quality and cost effectiveness.
- Promotes and encourages teamwork and high-performance standards throughout the section and oversees disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Designs and leads training programs. Conducts performance reviews.
- Drives improvement of processes and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with at least 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
- Proven communication (verbal and written), analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a hot, dusty environment; ability to climb stairs and ladders; ability to walk on inclines and uneven surfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Managerial and leadership experience in a steelmaking facility.
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in steel mill, manufacturing, process, production, or equivalent facility.
- Experience with high voltage power system infrastructure and components.
- Maintenance background with steel industry experience.
- Proven ability in successfully leading a team of engineers and bargaining unit employees.
