POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Reporting to the Chief Security Officer of UW Medicine, this position provides Director-level leadership to Security, Parking and Commuter Services at the UW Medical Center Montlake and Northwest Campuses, as well as the Montlake Department of Public Safety Business Office. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Hospital Security team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the Montlake campus in a manner that is consistent with UW Medicine Patients Are First Service Culture Guidelines. A dynamic team committed to making continuous improvements, and to protecting and caring for our people and property. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, update, and operationalize UW Medical Center Security strategic plan for safety and security, workplace violence prevention, and physical security systems supporting UW Medicine public safety and security system strategy and objectives. Lead UW Medical Center’s Workplace Violence Prevention (WPV) program; oversee the Security Management Plan; assess and make changes to improve annual WPV worksite analysis; risk assessments for physical security, WPV, and security programs. Ensure departmental compliance with regulatory requirements and law such as Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Health (DOH), and WA State RCWs. Monitor, manage, and control assigned budgets. Facilitate training of staff to ensure safety of staff, patients, families, and visitors; coach and develop staff to achieve a high level of competency and customer service. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree relevant to service area with 9 years of experience in Security Services/Public Safety leadership role in a healthcare environment. Advanced training or experience with technical elements including physical security systems; security dispatch operations; security protocols and training; and team supervision. Demonstrated leadership in advancing best practices in a healthcare environment. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
