Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity exists for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse practitioner (NP) to join the Colon and Rectal Surgery (CRS) team. The NP or PA will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other allied health staff to provide all aspects of high quality patient care for adult patients. The NP/PA will also have the unique opportunity to practice independently- managing an individual calendar of patients in the outpatient setting.
Responsibilities include managing direct clinics (Direct CRS clinic, Anorectal Surgery clinic, postoperative clinic, long-term follow-up clinic). Provision of care includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, education and counseling of patients and their families in the outpatient setting as delegated by the supervising surgeon. In addition to supporting the various independent clinics, the clinician may independently perform anorectal procedures, such as hemorrhoid banding, and incision and drainage of pilonidal abscess, etc.
A team focus that currently comprised of 12 Consultants, 4 NP's, 8 hospitalists, and 9 registered nurses, and other allied health staff caring for CRS patients.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP; or
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.
