DutiesThis position serve as the Division Chief, Information Privacy & Governance Division, Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the Office of Public Affairs.
Serves as the Chief, Information and Privacy Governance Division, whose mission is to administer the disclosure provisions of the Privacy Act (PA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and formulating programs and policies concerning the collection and release of official information. Provides expert legal advice and guidance in the most complex cases for litigation related to FOIA lawsuits and serves as the principal legal advisor to ATF's Executive Staff and management officials on all matters relating to the public disclosure of information and assists ATF Counsel in the defense of any FOIA or PA litigations filed against the Bureau. Provides policy advice to ATF management and specific ATF components regarding the effects of both FOIA and PA on any of the functional responsibilities of the various ATF components and issue related to the disclosure of information. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience include:Managing or leading a team; ANDExtensive knowledge and demonstrated experience resolving and working with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA); Privacy Act (PA) matters in a Federal law enforcement agency; ANDExtensive knowledge and demonstrated experience providing legal and technical advice on administrative laws, policies and regulations; ANDProviding superior analytical, written and communication skills.Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
