What You'll Do Help Principal Real Estate Investors boost investment performance with cutting edge research and development. Work closely with our seasoned investment professionals, engineers, and data scientists to scale our ML-driven research platforms throughout the development cycle (Discovery, Data collection, modeling, and deployment). Own the data strategy and execution portion of our R&D efforts and contribute to thought leadership with both internal and external stakeholders. Enable development of advanced statistical analysis and models to support all critical real estate functions investment decisions including, but not limited to strategic risk management, underwriting, performance forecast, and portfolio optimization. Work with data scientists to support feature engineering, model orchestration, and deployment efforts. Define, source, and operate data handling routines to supply required training data for ML jobs. Build robust data pipelines from third party vendors using AWS. Help build the infrastructure needed for rapid experimentation in support of investment decisions. Support research, due diligence, and implementation of third-party data and PropTech solutions being evaluated by various stakeholders within PrinREI. Develop domain expertise with various external vendors. Serve as technical lead for PrinRE investment research platforms for various teams throughout PrinREI and the broader organization and contribute to thought capital as requested. Who You Are Bachelor's degree in STEM plus 8 years related work experience or a Master’s in related field plus 2 years in related work experience Experience leading CI/CD with exposure to DevOps Experience orchestrating machine learning services Understanding of data structure, data modeling, and software architecture Self-starter with ability to plan, execute, and take ownership for delivering quality solutions Proficiency with data analysis languages (Python, R, Scala) and packages like sickit-learn Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark ML, etc Cloud computing platform experience (AWS Sagemaker) Commercial Real Estate knowledge a plus Previous Principal Financial Group exerience working as a Machine Learning Engineer or Quantitative Developer is preferred Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $100800 - $182400 / year Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension Eligible No Additional Information Work Environments This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical work week), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
