Role Synopsis bpx energy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Production Systems Engineer to join our team and help revolutionize our US onshore operations. In this role, you will be a key player in developing and deploying cutting-edge, data-driven solutions that optimize production, streamline workflows, and solve enterprise-level problems. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including engineers, optimizers, and field operators, to understand their challenges and translate them into impactful software solutions and/or process improvements. Key Accountabilities: Partner with Operations, Completions, and Interventions teams to find opportunities for improvement and develop innovative solutions that demonstrate the power of data Design, develop, and deploy robust applications using Python, SQL, and Snowflake within the AWS cloud environment Champion the adoption of standard processes for software development, including version control, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) Collaborate with Technology and Production as a product owner to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing support of in-house solutions Chip in to the development and maintenance of enterprise-level systems and standards that drive efficiency Build intuitive and insightful reporting tools and dashboards using Streamlit, Power BI, or Spotfire to empower data-driven decision-making Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly related to Petroleum Engineering, preferred Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, especially for data-intensive applications Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Prefect or Airflow preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to optimally convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences A passion for problem-solving and a strong analytical mindset Soft Skills: Effective Communicator: Able to present complex problems to a diverse audience, from field personnel to upper management, in a clear and concise manner. Can explain complex technical concepts and algorithms in a way that is easily understood by a broad audience. Growth Mindset: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts, processes, software, and engineering and mathematical ideas. Empathetic and Customer-Focused: A strong listener who develops solutions that directly address customer needs, generate business value, and improve user experience. How much do we pay (Base)? $140,000- $180,000 Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
