Role Synopsis
bpx energy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Production Systems Engineer to join our team and help revolutionize our US onshore operations. In this role, you will be a key player in developing and deploying cutting-edge, data-driven solutions that optimize production, streamline workflows, and solve enterprise-level problems. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including engineers, optimizers, and field operators, to understand their challenges and translate them into impactful software solutions and/or process improvements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Partner with Operations, Completions, and Interventions teams to find opportunities for improvement and develop innovative solutions that demonstrate the power of data
- Design, develop, and deploy robust applications using Python, SQL, and Snowflake within the AWS cloud environment
- Champion the adoption of standard processes for software development, including version control, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Collaborate with Technology and Production as a product owner to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing support of in-house solutions
- Chip in to the development and maintenance of enterprise-level systems and standards that drive efficiency
- Build intuitive and insightful reporting tools and dashboards using Streamlit, Power BI, or Spotfire to empower data-driven decision-making
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly related to Petroleum Engineering, preferred
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, especially for data-intensive applications
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
- Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Prefect or Airflow preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to optimally convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A passion for problem-solving and a strong analytical mindset
