Job Title: HR Manager (Temp-to-Hire)
Location: Chicago, IL - Hybrid 1 to 2 days onsite
Industry: Non-Profit
Pay: $36–$38/hour (contract), $77,000–$82,000/year (permanent)

Job Description:
This role serves as a trusted advisor on HR and cultural matters, managing employee engagement, talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning. The HR Manager supervises team members, ensures compliance with employment laws, and promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage HR team members, providing support on hiring, training, performance improvement plans, and team development.
- Employee Relations: Partner with leaders to address employee concerns, performance management, and morale-building.
- Hiring & Onboarding: Oversee recruitment, job descriptions, onboarding processes, and salary adjustments to meet organizational goals.
- Compliance & Benefits: Ensure adherence to employment laws, oversee benefits administration, and manage complex leave-of-absence cases.
- Culture & Engagement: Drive employee engagement initiatives and promote equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and understanding (EDIBU).
- Performance Management: Coordinate annual performance reviews, setting goals, and ensuring alignment with organizational values.
- Data & Administration: Maintain accurate HR metrics, create reports, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline HR processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in Human Resources or related field.
- 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong expertise in employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and recruitment.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, preferably UKG.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and videoconference platforms.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
