POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The local church pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the congregation, responsible for providing pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and leadership in accordance with the mission and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The pastor collaborates with church members, leaders, and conference officials to foster spiritual growth, evangelism, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Preaching and Teaching:
- Deliver weekly sermons that are biblically based, Christ-centered, and aligned with Seventh- day Adventist beliefs.
- Lead regular Bible studies, prayer meetings, and other teaching opportunities.
- Provide spiritual leadership by interpreting scripture and teaching doctrinal truths of the SDA Church.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Model a Christ-like lifestyle in personal conduct and public ministry.
- Lead the congregation in spiritual growth, promoting personal devotion, prayer, and Bible study.
- Encourage members to use their spiritual gifts in ministry and service.
Pastoral Care:
- Provide pastoral counseling, including support during times of crisis, grief, and personal challenges.
- Visit the sick, elderly, and those unable to attend church regularly.
- Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, and child dedications according to SDA practices.
Church Administration:
- Oversee church operations in collaboration with local church leaders such as elders, deacons, and department heads.
- Work with church boards and committees to develop and implement ministry plans, including evangelism, outreach, and discipleship programs.
- Ensure the proper functioning of church governance, including business meetings and adherence to SDA Church policies.
Evangelism and Outreach:
- Lead in the planning and execution of evangelistic efforts and community outreach.
- Promote small groups, Bible studies, and other initiatives to attract new members and retain existing ones.
- Encourage involvement in local and global mission initiatives.
Youth and Family Ministry:
- Support and guide youth and children’s ministries, fostering a nurturing environment for young people.
- Strengthen families by providing counseling and organizing family-centered activities and programs.
Conference Relations:
- Maintain strong communication with the local conference, attending conference meetings and events.
- Implement conference directives and policies within the local congregation.
- Report on church activities, membership growth, and financial status to conference officials.

RATE OF PAY: $60,000.00 - $82,191.00 per year (depending on years of service and ordination).
