Controller

role. This position reports to the

Chief Financial Officer

and is a Regular, Full Time, Exempt role with a

salary range of $156,200 to $171,800 with full benefits .

Primary Objective: Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for providing financial leadership and expertise for the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization. The Controller will ensure compliance with GAAP standards, maintain a high level of integrity, ensure timeliness of financial reporting, and uphold internal controls. Responsibilities include performing and ensuring a timely month and year-end close process, ensuring tax reporting compliance, preparation of grant budgets and invoices, payroll processing, accounts payable disbursements, procurement, and preparation of all worksheets for annual audits and other reporting needs of the organization. This position supervises five or more direct reports and is required to perform the duties of each position as a backup and to assist in simplifying processes and increasing efficiencies.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Supervision - 30% Oversee payroll, grant management, accounts payable, and purchasing functions of the organization. Ensure that all bills, expense reports, timesheets, and other payments are processed timely and accurately. Manage accounts receivable to ensure accurate and daily posting of receipts. Prepare budgets, receivables, and revenue reporting for grant management, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing guidance to Program Directors regarding their grants. Take ownership of all term-end close activities. Coach and educate staff on policies and procedures of the organization. Evaluate direct reports within designated time frames, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and supervision. Primary Functions - 70% Close the books each month and at year-end, ensuring the proper recognition and recording of all financial transactions by the set timelines. Prepare monthly reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts and other accounts. Prepare monthly financial reports for board committees and other special reports as needed. Maintain the 3 rd

party and patient pay revenue reconciliation monthly. Supervise and update the fixed assets system and coordinate the annual physical inventory process. Prepare and submit all federal, state, and local tax returns ensuring compliance with applicable filing requirements. Ensure all schedules and work papers are prepared and ready for the annual financial and 401K audits. Act as the primary specialist regarding reporting functionality, creating reports, updates, and maintenance of the Abila MIP accounting software. Lead financial audits and coordinate with external auditors. Prepare and file tax documents to ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements. Assist MNHC’s leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate. Perform other financial or operational related activities as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA required. Over 8+ years of overall accounting experience with 3+ years as a Controller and manager in the finance department of a nonprofit, preferably with healthcare experience. Strong computer and analytical skills, particularly in accounting and financial software packages; requires strong experience with Abila MIP or Sage 100 fund accounting software. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, V look-up, and Macros. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial information. A strong understanding of GAAP, A133, internal control processes, and hands-on experience overseeing and managing multiple grants from various funding sources.
