JOB SUMMARY
The Managing Vice President, Full-Service Franchising provides operational leadership and influence to ensure that Marriott’s key operational priorities and programs are implemented, sustained and optimized in the franchise hotels. As a business partner and Direct Report to the Senior Vice President Full-Service Franchising, the incumbent provides a strategic perspective to help make optimal business decisions for the hotels and accounts within their portfolio. The Managing Vice President uses operational skills and diverse sources of information to identify opportunities, ensure high caliber customer satisfaction through the development and execution of high-quality products and services in food & beverage, event management, and rooms operations and related services throughout the franchise hotels in their portfolio. Functions as the strategic business leader of all Franchised Marriott Full-Service hotels in their scope, providing expertise, strategic direction and insight regarding food & beverage, event management, rooms operations and related services, sales, revenue management, and guest satisfaction. This leadership role evaluates the current state of operational performance, formulates the strategy to achieve business objectives and implements systems and processes that leverage and support enterprise strategies to maximize food & beverage, event management, rooms operations and related services, sales, revenue management, and guest satisfaction business performance. This role is also accountable for the relationship with the account principals and leads the transaction process for hotels relicensing, renewing or exiting the system. At its core, this role is an advocate – for Marriott when interacting with an account, and for the franchise community when interacting with Marriott. This resource will be experienced into the franchise account management community, with portfolio responsibilities for accounts with greater complexity and in a more turbulent landscape. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required 10+ years of progressive experience in hotel industry preferred (e.g. combined experience to include food & beverage, rooms operations, event management, sales, revenue management, quality assurance and prior strategic leadership roles or GM assignments with responsibility for multiple units). Preferred Bachelor’s degree in related area preferred. Graduate degree, e.g., MBA or related degree preferred. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Drive operational excellence at Franchise hotels by employing a systematic account management approach to help ensure the effective implementation, sustainment and optimization of key initiatives at Franchise properties. Ensure the execution of operations responsibilities for franchise hotels: rooms operations and related services, food and beverage, event management, guest, sales, revenue management, financial management and quality assurance. Ensure properties deliver against QA operation review and discipline initiatives to build brand equity and customer loyalty. Play key role in assisting Development in hotel development process, providing expertise to design process for market projects, due diligence and operations excellence. Work with corporate groups as appropriate to ensure smooth development/pre-opening/conversion process. Serve as a liaison to the Franchise Community by routinely sharing information on Market Initiatives, Operations Councils and Operations Training opportunities. Serve as a liaison to Marriott resources for new product development (e.g., restaurant concept, new MH Modern guestroom). Serve as a resource to OFS and the Franchise community by reviewing capital plans to assist in maximizing guest impact and maintaining brand requirements for renovations, as well as managing PIP’s for conversions. Hold high performance expectations, own results, and hold others accountable regardless of reporting relationship. Assign clear accountability and provide both the leadership and resources to ensure that individuals deliver desired contributions and results. Monitor implementation to assure success and accountability for results. Put in place early warning systems and appropriate metrics to identify and manage business and financial risks. Ensure brand standards are adhered to in the hotels under scope. Applies innovation principles and practices around collaboration, co-creation and creativity to deliver expansive ideas and operational solutions. Maintain high performance levels by hiring the best, coaching & developing, ensuring everyone understands the expected contributions, addressing performance issues and aligning performance and rewards. Contribute to the evaluation of the Marriott franchisee’s above-property management structure to ensure that Marriott Full-Service franchise properties receive adequate support. Influence pragmatically to implement change management plans that maximize stakeholder engagement to drive faster adoption, and higher proficiency of accounts. Stimulates confidence in changing environments. Champion and enhance owner/franchisee engagement channels to align on strategies to elevate guest/franchisee experiences and brand health in partnership with various corporate and continent functions. Build an eco-system for portfolio stakeholders that is conditioned for change and complexity, balanced with sustainability and scalability. Provide leadership in operations functions (e.g. F&B, Event Management, Rooms and related services, GS, sales, revenue management, etc.) to franchisees by setting priorities that are aligned with the region and discipline goals and related to key business priorities. Identify service improvements, anticipate challenges, and devise an approach for managing these with franchise partners. Serve as market change agent and provide oversight in the implementation of related programs and key initiatives in the market. Promote an organizational environment that rapidly assimilates new information to improve business performance through assertive leadership and creates a culture of candor. Leading the transaction process for any Franchise hotels in the Regional Vice President’s portfolio, that are relicensing, renewing or exiting the system. Travel required. Perform other duties as assigned. The salary range for this position is $258,900 to $365,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive a quarterly bonus. Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
