Description
Audit Preparation: Prepare work papers and coordinate
annual audit activities
with external auditors. Lead the preparation of key documents like financial statements,
990, CHAR500, and 5500 filings . Ensure readiness for 2024 and 2025 audits with
strong audit scheduling
and documentation skills.
Financial Management: Prepare annual financial statements, notes, and supporting analyses. Oversee
investment accounting , cash receipts, and journal entry postings. Maintain and track government funding sources, ensuring compliance with regulatory/contractual obligations. Submit annual
CFR reports
and ensure alignment with reporting standards.
Internal Controls & Reporting: Monitor accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal control systems across departments. Support cash flow management with forecasting, reporting, and actionable recommendations. Assist the CFO with interpreting and presenting financial reports for the
Board of Directors and its committees .
Team Leadership & Development: Provide task delegation and
effective explanations
to the junior accounting team (4 members) to ensure understanding and efficiency. Review payroll processes, variances, and AP activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Additional Duties: Perform ad hoc financial assignments and other related tasks as required.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting
or
Finance . Minimum
8+ years of experience
in financial management, including supervision of accounting staff. Nonprofit experience
is required, including familiarity with
government contracts
and
New York State CFR
reporting. Proficiency in
Sage Intacct
(or similar ERP nonprofit financial systems). Advanced
Excel skills , including pivot tables and financial data analysis. Strong working knowledge of
GAAP
and
cash flow forecasting . Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work independently and under tight deadlines.
